Well, here it is... my first real blog. Is there anybody actually reading this???? Who knows. I'm a bit new to this blog lark. Do I focus on my music, or tell you what time I crawled out of bed, what I ate for breakfast, or how sore my arse is going to feel after tonight's curry? As I write this, it's 2am, I've got a glass of white wine at my side while the magnificent Gary Numan plays in the background (a DVD that is. He's far too busy to be performing for me live in my living room).

Better start with music.

I've finally began recording vocals for my new album. I recorded and mixed the initial instruments some time ago but, as I record from home, it's hard for me to lay down vocal tracks with a 3 year old son and a 2 year old daughter under my feet, and I can hardly record when they're in bed. The last thing they need is my big gob interrupting their sweet dreams of Smurfs and Chipmunks. I can only sneak in the odd vocal line when their Mother takes them to playgroups (I don't kick them out, honest). As it happens, I've managed to complete vocals for 8 full songs. Only another 15 to go. The recordings are sounding great. I'm still planning an Autumn release but need to get some serious cash together to promote it properly before I can confirm anything. I also hope to gig for the first time ever in Liverpool, Manchester, Edinburgh, Leeds and Newcastle, as well as the more familiar territories of London, York, and, of course, my native Teesside.

Between recording, blogging, and watching countless hours of Cbeebies, I'm currently reading David Nevue's excellent book 'How To Promote Your Music Successfully On The Internet'. It's been filling me with numerous fresh ideas and an abundance of motivation. For any other budding singers/bands/songwriters/musicians out there, I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

I'm going to make this short and sweet and call it a night now. I'd like to finish this post by wishing England all the very best for their quarter final game against Italy tomorrow night. Hopefully in 24 hours time I will be looking forward to (or nervously dreading) a mouth watering semi final tie against Germany (a repeat of 1st September 2001's result would do nicely for that one).

Goodnight/morning all.

Carl.
